Protest Planned By Albanians in Tuz, Montenegro

"In Defense of National Identity"

TUZ, MALËSIA e MADHE, Monday December 19, 2011 – Recent developments in Montenegro illustrate once again that "ethnic cleansing” via non-violent means continues to be the preamble of Montenegro’s policy against Albanians. On November 2nd of this year, the Montenegrin Parliament adopted the Law on Territorial Division of Malësia leaving the fate of Malësia and Albanians in the hands of the Government of Montenegro. Hence, we know very well that any plans from the Montenegrin Government to grant an independent Municipal Status for Malësia will be the same as it has been thus far, nonexistent!

Currently, the Montenegrin government is preparing a draft law that strictly forbids the expression of national flags (symbols) by its national minorities, including those that have given their lives in the name of language, flag and identity throughout the centuries.

The discrimination of Albanians continues today through dangerous levels of unemployment, denial of the right of local government organizations (as professed in the Constitution of Montenegro and international agreements), the lack of textbooks in the Albanian language, and the refuted history of the Albanian people, just to name a few.

As such, the aforementioned have forced us to take concrete steps to achieve the natural rights bestowed to us at birth and according to international standards for human and minority rights. Therefore, on December 28th, at 2:00 p.m., in the Center of Tuz, a peaceful protest will be organized in efforts to express dissatisfaction with the current governance of the Urban Municipality of Tuz and the on-going injustices perpetuated against Albanians in Montenegro!

As the state of Montenegro aims to ascend into the European Union, it has continuously failed to respect the canons of democracy and its development.

WE DEMAND RESPECT as protected under international legal apparatuses and domestic laws which guarantee the rights of Albanians in Malësia and the whole territory of Montenegro where they live.

WHEREFORE, I invite all citizens of Malësia, regardless of religion, territory, and/or political beliefs, to raise their voices in unison on December 28th, to take back what was wrongfully taken away from us, to reclaim the right to Local Self-Government / Full Municipal Status for Malësia, where we decide our own destiny, to develop the economic sector that is just and desirable and necessary to the citizens of Malësia, and to protect our national symbols, territories, vineyards, natural resources, and the right to employment and livelihood. There can be no democracy if the cornerstones and fundamental rights and freedoms of man are not met.

Based on these accusations, we rightfully appeal to Europe and the United States that we are your members, we are your sons, and we seek to share with you the benefits of a just civilization by way of democracy. We express good will, we are eager to learn from you, and we have journeyed through the right path in pursuit of equal representation, and you will realize that if the obstacles of discrimination are torn down, Albanians will fight to free themselves from the grip of tyranny.

To the Government of Montenegro, we assert: "Grant Albanians the protection and representation EQUAL to all other citizens in Montenegro! HALT your policy of assimilation and ethnic cleansing! STOP population displacement! STOP changing the demographics of the population of Malësia! STOP the discrimination, because under our inalienable right to vote and live as citizens of the state, Montenegro must be at the service of all its citizens, equally and impartially!”

Listen, there will be a lot of criticism played out in the next few days by Albanians in Malesia. They will criticize Mr Lulgjuraj and his colleagues, but the matter of fact is that THE TIME IS NOW!!

Albanians in MZ must act now to prevent the continues assimilation that has taken a toll on teh region. Only when the people stand up and yell back at Podgorica will there be change.

Sitting on your asses at cafes and poking fun at one another is no way to get your equal rights. Stand up and do something about it. Support the FDI and make change happen in Malesia e Madhe because your future and the future of your children is at stake!

On Dec 28th, but aside your jealousies and bad hearts and use thse holy holidays as your inspiration to make a change in Malesia.

For God's sake, change will benefit every Albanian in Malesia, not just these young men!

Forget who you are for just one day, regardless if you are a Hot, Grude, Trieshan or whatever, join forces and speak with one voice so loud that the halls of Parliamnt can hear you!

Trust me, Government will be afraid of you!!!

What about albanian's in ulqin? This is not just for malesia. I find this so wrong what the montenegrians are doing to us ! Montenegro wanted freedom I supported it ! But us albanians want our freedom in Montenegro, no matter which part we are from !!! They can take away our flag but there will be DRAMA after that !

Simon said...

You Ulqinak need to unite around the greater cause that is effecting all Albanians in MZ. Join your brothers and sisters from Malesia and demand your rights from the corrupt govt of MZ. We need to stand united!

The Diaspora should seriously consider a demonstration in the USA. The voices of 2 continents is much louder.

There's a national prayer breakfast in DC in February where dignitaries from all over the world attend, including Montenegrin leaders.

That would be an ideal time to demonstrate, both at the breakfast venue and the Montenegrin Embassy.

Nik Gjurashaj said...

By the way, are those jackass Albanian politicians in Malesi going to support this?

It would be a damn shame if the likes of Nikolle Camaj, Vasel Sinishtaj, Maliq Cunmulaj, Muhammaed Gjokaj, and others from Malesi do nothing to support and participate in this event.

Watch very closely because if they are not active participants, then they are certainly with the "other side!"

I don't expect much anymore from that Serbo-fil Camaj, but then again the rest haven't done anything either. In fact, they have taken Malesia doen this road where today it is on the verge of total assimilation. Shame on those political impotent human beings, or should I say neanderthals, who cannot event interpret the very laws that are designed to hush the very people they represent. But we all know that they represent no one but their pockets and ensure they are satisfied in ony those means.

Malesia desperately needs new faces, new blood, new strategies, new saviours, new people!

I hypothesize the following for next Wed: THe protest will have a modest showing but it will definately open people's eyes that there are those who are not afriad to stand up to the communists-in-disguise regime. Malesia will get an idea of what the future holds, and if there is slight success, these organizers will have paved their way to future political stardom. The American Diaspora will work closely with this new group and assist in solidifying their reputation. And NO! the Diaspora will NOT work any longer with the "old regime" because they lost their reputation many years ago when Malesia was lost.

God Bless/Save/Free Malesia! God Bless the Diaspora!

Tina and Nick: now that you both graduated from Grad School think about joining the cause. I like your assessments above, you seem to know what's going on. We are in desperate need of refreshing new faces, ideas and attitudes. It needs to start somewhere.

Think about it.

Tina - some blogger on malesia.org did the honor of translating your comment above, here it is:

Shqiperiaebashkuar said: Dëgjoni, do të ketë shumë kritika të kurdisura në ditët e ardhshme nga shqiptarët në Malësi. Ata do të kritikojnë z.

That's what Malesore there need, direct comments followed with the hard truth. There is a way to get what you want, you just need to want it hard enough.

Anonymous said...

I believe the Albanians in Detroit want it more than anyone else.

Anonymous said...

I agree with you 100%.

Any Albanian -- individual or group -- needs to support this initiative! Those that do not should remove their surname and add an "ic" to the suffix or decalre themselves as non-Albanians!

Anonymous said...

Podgorica is manipulatively striving to strip Malesie from Malesor. If Malesort don’t do something about it, within a decade Malesia will change its name to Malesiovic, or they will baptize Malesia with the new name-Dukanovic.. Stand up Malesi for your natural rights! No government, political party, or individual can take these rights away from you! Malesor: you were born with them. The entire world will support you when protecting and defending those rights.

Mark said...

The protest will only be as successful as the numbers that turn out.

Power in movement has been so powerful that governments toppled and the earth shook on its axis, especially in 2011.

Will Albanians show up on the 28th? Will they put aside their differences and rally around the discrimination (cause) that has crippled their communities and stagnated their development?

We will see
